The Chinese Embassy in South Africa Holds the National Day Reception Celebrating the 68th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China

On Sep 26th, the Chinese Embassy in South Africa held the National Day Reception, celebrating the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. H.E. Minister of Public Works Nkosinathi Nhleko, as the guest of honor, attended the reception. H.E. Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekg, South African Deputy Ministers, senior officials, Ambassadors and high commissioners of the diplomatic corps as well as over 650 guests from various social sectors and representatives of local Chinese community attended the ceremony.

In his remarks, H.E. Ambassador Lin Songtian cited the development achievements of various fields in China and said that under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people have remained committed steadfast to a socialist path of development that suits China’s national conditions, and made remarkable achievement of development which has never recorded before by any textbook of human being. China has become the biggest contributor of world economic growth, a successful pioneer of reform and opening up, a successful model of global poverty alleviation, and a promoter of the international governance system reform, making a prominent contribution to world peace and development. The successful BRICS Summit in Xiamen just concluded not long ago has opened up a second “Golden Decade” of BRICS cooperation. The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China will be held in Beijing in a few weeks and chart a new course for China’s future development.

H.E. Ambassador Lin said that China and Africa always share a common future, have fruitful mutually beneficial cooperation, and face a rare historic opportunity to synergize the two countries’ development strategies. Now China-South Africa relations are in the best period of history. Next year, China and South Africa will celebrate the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties. As the new Chinese Ambassador to South Africa, H.E. Ambassador Lin said that he would spare no efforts to work closely with the South African side to translate the important consensus between our two heads of state into concrete actions and fruitful results, and make China-South Africa relations stronger, more productive and more beneficial to our two peoples.

H.E. Minister Nhleko warmly congratulated on the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China on behalf of the South African government and people. H.E. Minister Nhleko spoke highly of China's achievements of development and China's contribution to peace and development of Africa and the world, and pointed out that cooperation between South Africa and China is fruitful. H.E. Minister Nhleko warmly welcomed H.E. Ambassador Lin and expressed his willingness to work together to continue to promote cooperation between South Africa and China in various fields, and lead the comprehensive strategic partnership of the two countries to a new height.

The reception enjoys a number of highlights including remarkable photo exhibition, wonderful videos, exciting cultural performances and delicious Chinese food. The Chinese companies set up exhibition stands to display their business achievements in South Africa and contribution to the local communities. Guests all spoke highly of the reception, impressed by China’s development achievement, contribution to the world as well as mutually beneficial cooperation results of China-South Africa and China-Africa, and wished stronger China-South Africa and China-Africa relations.
