2017/11/17

On November 15, H.E. Ambassador Lin Songtian accepted interview of City Press and China's 21st Century Business Herald.

In the interview with City Press, Ambassador Lin introduced the important achievements and significance of the 19th National Congress of the CPC. With solid data and vivid examples, Ambassador Lin pointed out that under strong leadership of Communist Party of China, after nearly 40 years of reform and opening up, per capita GDP of China has risen from 156 U.S. dollars in 1978 to over 8,000 U.S. dollars in 2016, and 700 million people has been up and out of poverty. The 19th National Congress of the CPC has drawn up a new blueprint for development, elected a new generation of the CPC central leadership with Xi Jinping at its core, and established the historical position of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, which will serve as the guiding thought that unites and leads the efforts of the CPC and the Chinese people going forward.

With regard to difference between democratic election system in China and Western countries, Ambassador Lin said that China has strict procedures and democratic oversight of inner-party democracy, rather than street election politics. Chinese leaders always start from grassroots level and go up level by level. Their personal conduct, govern ability and achievements are all needed to be tested, and they must not violate laws and regulations. The essential difference between socialism and capitalism is that development of socialism society benefits the entire population rather than only a few vested interest groups. The CPC always upholds the principle of serving the people wholeheartedly, emphasizes a people-centered approach, and wins the sincere support of broad Chinese people.

Ambassador Lin said that South Africa is the strongest economy in Africa, with the best soft and hard conditions. China and South Africa has high mutual political trust, good cooperation base, and great potential. As Ambassador of China to South Africa, he will earnestly follow the principles of sincerity, practical results, affinity and good faith and uphold the values of friendship, justice and shared interests, as advocated by the Chinese President Xi Jinping. Ambassador Lin will work further to promote the comprehensive implementation of the important agreements reached between our two Presidents, as well as the Ten Major China-Africa Cooperative Plans, to make China-South Africa relations closer and stronger, achieve win-win cooperation and common development, and better benefit both peoples.

Ambassador Lin also accepted an interview of "21st Century Business Herald" on promoting pragmatic cooperation between China and South Africa and the development of Chinese enterprises in South Africa.
