H.E. Ambassador Lin Songtian Accepts Interview of CNBC Television Station

On November 16, H.E. Ambassador Lin Songtian accepted an interview with CNBC. In the interview, Ambassador Lin answered questions about China-Africa relations, Chinese investment in Africa, influence of the 19th National Congress of the CPC on China-Africa relations in the future, China's democracy and freedom of speech, the procedures of election of leaders of the CPC, and the situation in Zimbabwe.

Ambassador Lin said that China and Africa are like one family, always understand and support each other. In March 2013, Chinese president Xi Jinping chose Africa as the first place to visit after taking office, put forward the principles of sincerity, practical results, affinity and good faith, and upholding the values of friendship, justice and shared interests. In 2014, China took the lead in emergency rescue and led the international community to help the three West African countries to overcome Ebola, which vividly interpreted the fraternal friendship between China and Africa.

Ambassador Lin said that a peaceful and stable Africa with sustainable development is in common interest of African people and the rest of the world. It is also a common goal for the international community to work together. To this end, the Chinese government encourages Chinese enterprises to go to Africa for investment and have mutually beneficial cooperation. Ambassador Lin used informative data to illustrate the real benefits that China has brought to local people in African countries by investment.

Ambassador Lin said that there are still some problems about Chinese companies in Africa are needed to be solved, for some Chinese investors face language barrier and are lack of understanding of laws and customs in Africa. In the case of Hisense South Africa, Ambassador Lin pointed out Chinese company could offer many jobs for local community, and have a good relationship with local staff.

Ambassador Lin said that General Secretary Xi Jinping put forward a new goal of building a better China and a better world at the 19th National Congress of the CPC. Building a better South Africa and a better Africa have become our common pursuit. Africa has abundant natural and human resources and full of hope. China-Africa cooperation have mutual needs, complement advantages, and great potential.

Ambassador Lin introduced growth procedures of leaders of the CPC and process of election of delegates to the 19th National Congress of the CPC. He emphasized that Chinese leaders are excellent leaders who must have ability, outstanding achievements, and recognized by all people. Ambassador Lin also said that China’s democracy is different from "street democracy" in Western countries. By enumerating number of Internet users and mobile phone users in China, Ambassador Lin pointed out that Chinese people enjoy full democracy and freedom of speech within the framework of law.
