Updated List of Designated COVID-19 Testing Facilities in RSA
2020/11/13

According to the Notice of Requirements for China-bound Passengers to Obtain COVID-19 Negative Certificates of Both Nucleic Acid and Anti-body Blood Tests Before Boarding, as from 5 November 2020, all Chinese and foreign passengers who are to fly from South Africa to China are required to take both nucleic acid and IgM anti-body tests for COVID-19 before boarding flights. The Chinese Embassy, as recommended by the National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD), has selected some major testing facilities as designated providers of the said tests. After consultation and coordination, PathCare and Ampath have been providing both COVID-19 PCR and IgM tests, and Lancet is scheduled to provide both tests as of 16 November 2020. By then, the tests will be available at nearly 400 branches across South Africa, and the accessibility will be greatly enhanced.

In order to help passengers to obtain the Green Health Code (HS code) or the Green Code of Health Declaration Code (HDC code) in a timely manner, the Chinese Embassy hereby reiterates the requirements as follows:

1. Please locate your nearest designated testing facility, utilizing relevant websites, to get the tests done.

2. It is highly recommended that both COVID-19 PCR and IgM tests are done by the same lab. After obtaining negative results of both tests, please make application for HS or HDC code online immediately.

3. Please check the list of designated testing facilities by visiting http://za.china-embassy.org/eng/sggg/t1828312.htm.
