Deputy Mayor of Beijing visited Tshwane

Mr. Zhang Mao, the Deputy Mayor of Beijing,met with Mr. Khorombi Dau, the Speaker of the Mayoral Committee of the City of Tshwane, on 21 April 2006 during his visit to South Africa.

The two principles shared the comprehensive information of each own city and exchanged views on several issues, among others, the economic developments, investment and trade, environment protection etc. Mr. Zhang briefed the preparation work for 2008 Olympics and the tourism promotion by Beijing Municipality. The South African side expected to learn the experience from Beijing, with the aim to successfully hold the 2010 World Cup of Soccer.

Both sides agreed to further consolidate the bilateral exchanges and cooperation, in order to promote the economic developments of the two cities. Mr. Zhang extended warm invitation to the City of Tshwane to attend the Beijing International Tourism Expo and the Beijing International Culture and Tourism Festival to be respectively held annually in June and September.
