In the evening of May 9 local time, Premier Li Keqiang, at the invitation of President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, arrived at the Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by special plane, starting his official visit to Kenya. Premier Li Keqiang's wife Mme. Cheng Hong arrived by the same plane. Senior officials of the Kenyan government led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Kipchirchir Samoei Arap Ruto of Kenya were at the airport to welcome Premier Li Keqiang and Mme. Cheng Hong. H.E. Liu Xianfa, Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, also welcomed them at the airport.

Kenyan Children presented flowers to Li Keqiang and Mme. Cheng Hong and the local people welcomed the distinguished Chinese guests with characteristic traditional songs and dances.

Li Keqiang said that China and Kenya enjoy profound traditional friendship and the bilateral relations have always maintained a steady and healthy development. Both countries have now formed an all-round, wide-ranging and multi-tiered cooperative pattern and become reliable friends and sincere partners. I am looking forward to making in-depth exchanges of views with Kenyan leaders on bilateral relations and topics of common interest, promoting China-Kenya comprehensive cooperative partnership featuring equality, mutual trust, mutual benefit and win-win results for greater development.

During the visit, Li Keqiang will hold talks and meetings with Kenyan leaders to comprehensively promote the development of China-Kenya relations, make extensive contacts with people from all walks of life in Kenya and meet with Achim Steiner, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and Joan Clos, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT).

Li Keqiang arrived in Nairobi after concluding his successful visit to Angola. Upon leaving Luanda, President José Eduardo dos Santos of Angola held a grand seeing-off ceremony for Li Keqiang and Mme. Cheng Hong at the Presidential Palace. Vice President Manuel Domingos Vicente and Foreign Minister Georges Rebelo Chicoti of Angola and H.E. Gao Kexiang, Chinese Ambassador to Angola, bade farewell to them at the airport.
