Cultural Heritage Exhibition Treasures of China To Be Launched in South Africa

A grand Chinese unearthed cultural heritage exhibition Treasures of China will be launched in the National Cultural History Museum in Pretoria, South Africa in March 2008. Earlier in 2006, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage of China and the Department of Arts and Culture of South Africa decided to hold this exhibition in 2008 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and South Africa. As it is the first time for China to hold such a grand heritage exhibition in the Africa since the founding of the P. R. China, high attention is paid by the governments of the People's Republic of China and Republic of South Africa. China side made an excellent preparation in selecting the cultural relics for the exhibition and totally 90 pieces of the exhibits mainly reflect the cultural features of the different historical periods over the 5000 years of the Chinese history and all of them are invaluable so far as their grade are concerned. South African side also made a detail plan for the exhibition. Special fund has been provided by the Department of Arts and Culture that will be used for preparing the exhibition and in the National Cultural History Museum, a displaying hall with 700 square meters is now under the alteration and decoration. The exhibition is to open on March 27 and end on June 30, 2008.

It is a rare opportunity for the people in South Africa to see the heritage treasures from the distant oriental ancient country and enjoy the marvelous splendid civilizations of China.
